Did you know, nursing is the nation's largest health care profession? However, due to an increased demand for trained nurses, combined with current workforce shortages, the industry is experiencing faster than average growth (which is expected through the year 2020 and beyond). Earnings are above average, particularly for advanced practical nurses who have additional education and certifications. Driven by technological developments, rapid advancements in disease prevention and health promotion, increased public awareness of health concerns, and a booming, aging population, this field offers our students a wide variety of job openings, ranging from traditional patient care to health care administration.
Inlet Grove Community High School students can become a Licensed Practical Nurse upon graduation. Our students not only receive classroom instructions, but also have the opportunity to demonstrate a mastery of skills in a comprehensive nursing skills laboratory, as well as practice direct patient care in hospital and community settings, under the guidance of clinically expert faculty.
Admission Criteria: Students must maintain a "B" average in career courses and apply for admission to specialty area prior to completing prerequisites. During students' junior and senior years, they are required to demonstrate accuracy, safety, and efficiency in a variety of healthcare settings under the direct supervision of clinical instructors.
