Biotechnology

The Biotechnology program course works in cooperation with Palm Beach State College and provides practical, real-world education which prepares students for entry-level employment in the biotechnology industry. Biotechnology is an applied biological science that uses living organisms to create products, perform valuable processes, and solve problems that benefit mankind and the environment. This growing field offers a variety of career opportunities throughout the nation.

The Biotechnology Program is a program delivered in a state-of-the-art facility that offers students the opportunity to prepare for a career path and the challenges of college. The students have a wide variety of experiences that may include the opportunity to “gown-up” and work in a clean room. They may also experiment with plants while studying the science of hydroponics in the schools’ hydroponics greenhouses. Technology is infused into almost all aspects of the curriculum. This academy has established partnerships with biotech companies in the area. All students applying to these programs must meet the following eligibility criteria: 3.0 GPA.

Palm Beach State College Enrollment

Palm Beach State College offers two-degree programs in biotechnology. Students may choose to enroll in the Associate in Science (AS) degree, which prepares students for entry into the biotechnology workforce, academic research, and related industries; or a dual Associate in Arts (AA)/(AS) degree option, designed for pre-med and other students planning to transfer to a four-year university. Both the 61-credit AS and dual AA/AS programs require students to complete a 4-month Biotech internship outside of the College that provides training in real-world academic or industry research.
