Chef Tammy Newman

Chef Tammy Newman is a culinary instructor who started her career as a restaurant owner in Houston, Texas. She attended Indiana State University and Johnson and Wales earning her culinary degree and her degree as a Food Manager Professional. Chef was then recruited to be a culinary teacher by a high school principal over 16 years ago.

The hospitality industry is one of the world’s fastest growing industries and it continues to expand at a rapid pace. Inlet Grove High School of Culinary Arts and Restaurant Operations Management Program offers talented and motivated students with a platform for a career in the foodservice industry. Our challenging program is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the business environment of restaurant operations and management. We offer an onsite, student staffed and a managed restaurant as a learning laboratory.

Culinary Chefs need to have a knowledge base encompassing skills such as:
Having a love for cooking and be passionate about preparing, cooking and serving foods.
They need to assist, coach, monitor and mentor those taking up the trade.
Be creative with food ingredients, the preparing of recipes and designing deserts.
