History & Legacy

Founder/Director of Curriculum and School Improvement

Inlet Grove High School was founded in 2003 by Dr. Emma Banks. Dr. Banks served as the CEO and Principal for 17 years. She now serves as the Director of Curriculum and School Improvement. Dr. Banks had a vision of creating an educational institution which graduate students with the skills and knowledge to be lifelong learners and responsible citizens through a technology rich and innovative learning environment that integrates rigorous academic and career preparation and develops internationally minded students who make contributions to a better and more peaceful world. Students will be prepared to enter college and the workforce upon graduation and will be able to successfully compete in today’s global society.

It is Dr. Banks’ strong belief that it is our responsibility to teach students more than just reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. She believes that teaching students how to think critically and work collaboratively with others, even when they disagree about something, is equally as crucial to their future success in our global society. We know that research has shown that students have many different learning styles and that content and delivery must be differentiated and highly engaging. The more meaningful and current we can make our teaching, the better the student will achieve.

Inlet Grove offers a variety of educational opportunities, including college preparatory and Career Academies. We also offer a strong College Board Advanced Placement Program, STEM and a technology program. We are proud that Inlet Grove is an ―A School and we are committed to maintain these standards among our leadership, staff, and students.
